Think i may need calcium?

My ludwigia repens (the one that i'm sure that's ludwigia repens) and a few other little plants seem to be having somewhat crinkly leaves. I've heard some places that this is a calcium deficiency.
What can i add to the tank to increase the calcium?
Don't really have money to buy the calcium carbonate in dry form, is there anything that has calcium carbonate in it and that is safe?

I've read using chalk or tums is a good source of calcium. IF it is, would a small pinch full be enough?

I cook for my dogs and egg shell is considered an acceptable calcium source as it consists mostly of calcium carbonate. Pull off the membrane and bake so it is good and dry then grind into a powder. 900 mg elemental Ca per 1/2 tsp.

that's funny. My dad just made some hard boiled eggs last night... What a coincidence. If i have a 20G tank, how much do you think I'd have to add to have a sufficient amount for my plants to start straightening out.

I haven't a clue, just know that egg shell is mostly calcium carbonate!

hahaha i suppose I'll do a trial and error. Just keep the amounts low. How did you grind the shells up once they baked?
