shipping plants in the winter

I am starting this thread out of curiosity about your experiences with shipping plants in cold weather.I have sent many small priority boxes in the winter and have received many also with no problems. When you think about it the weak link in the system is leaving them in the mail box for 6-8 hours because during the shipping process they are in temperature controlled rooms and heated trucks. My postman delivers a block at a time so again the plants are reasonably protected. So I think if you can plan to have someone home on delivery day or have your post office hold for pick up shipping plants in the winter is pretty safe.Do you agree ??Actually I think plants take a little longer to rebound when the temps are in the 90s....
