Fish Dying.. Need Advice

Hey I have what looks to be my first fatality. One of my Oto Cats is lying upside down on the gravel.. He's looking really grey. He moves once and a while and even turns over. I have 4 Oto's, can't find the other 3 but they always hide when the light is on.. Could it be starving or is the little guy just going to die? I mean there's loads of soft green algae for him to munch on. I have some blanched lettuce in the hospital tank with him right now, lost cause? What do you think?

How long have you had the Oto? I know some Otos have a hard time surviving once you get them home, since they have been badly mistreated up to that time.

Yeah, that's the thing. He's been in the tank over 5 months now.. I've done nothing different, all the other fish are happy and just doing their usual.

I got these guys from petsmart (no offense to anybody) and they seemed extremely skittish from the get go.. But fine up until now. You think I'm dosing to much excel? I'm dosing a good amount less then the suggested amount. I don't think that would cause it.. Maybe just an old fish?

Perhaps it is piscine tuberculosis (from the symptom of a permanent deformity in the spine)?

Otos are normally very skittish and hard to catch with a net. It could be he is dying of old age. When you first get otos home from the store, a 50% death rate is pretty common.

I had 2 otos for about 2.5 years.
