Causes for HC Melting?

What are the causes of HC Melting? I think my new fluval edge that I just filled up with water after growing HC emersed is showing signs of HC melting. I have pressurized CO2, I have been using a little pfertz, and I have upgraded the lighting to two mr11 led lights and the 10w CF from walmart.

The one thing that I am thinking is that I don't have a heater going just yet. Could this be the cause of the melting? The HC was fine emersed....

You should expect a little HC melting as you swap it from emersed to submersed. It will eventually stop, but it does this in the beginning.

do you have inhabitants in the tank? if not i would crank the co2 high. maybe that will help the transition from emersed to submersed

I agree, cranking the CO2 helps when the HC is converting from emersed to immersed growth.

Don't worry...within a couple weeks, your HC will look better. Focus on upping the CO2...

Also aim for 3-5 dgh since we have soft water in San francisco.
