Fluval Edge Lighting Upgrade

I had grown quite a few yellow shrimp in my fluval edge. It was looking quite nice. Suddenly off them them died and I have not 1 left.

I have absolutly no idea what happened as my mystery snails (Brigs) are all fine.

My new plan is to keep a beta in the tank but I want to upgrade the lighting.

I have heard of people putting MR16 bulbs in there to get more light and by stretching out the light sockets a bit. Is there better route to go?

I was wondering if anyone has mounted a compact fluorescent in there yet, or maybe someone has found some nice LED MR11/16 bulbs?

I did go the CFL route but I had to remove the original swing arm for the lights on the edge so i can make a mount for 2 10w 6500k aquarium CFL from walmart.
Here's a link to what I did:

There are a few other threads on the fluval light upgrade from other members here like dkbmxr18 who did some light upgrades too. I think he was the one who had the MR11/16 LEDs. Try to check out Tuonor's edge upgrades and the official edge thread as there are a lot of usefull info and upgrades to do on .
