Planted Tank

So after many many years, I'm going to do another planted tank. I would like to get a Fluval Olsaka 155 aquarium set. It's a 41 gallon tank 24 x 18 x 24. The lighting is 2 24 w T-5 HO 6,700 k. Is this enough light? I plan to add a little co2 but I was brought up on the old 3 watts per gallon rule, so I'm confused. I just want to know if I could grow a variety of plants OK with this set up. Thanks

Fluval Osaka's are awesome setups.

You could do a "low light" setup with what you have. There's plenty of plants you can grow with that amount of light.

I have the same light on a 30g with pressurized CO2, and I can grow most plants. The wpg rule does not apply to T5's really, it may be a "general rule of thumb" for most lights, but not T5's. The trick is finding the balance of light,co2 and plants to not promote algae growth.

t5's are much more effecient than other bulbs that work well with the wpg rule such as t-12's and t8's. when i say much more effecient, talk to hoppy about his par meter readings in comparing t5's to t8's. 41 gallong is pushing it with diy co2, so can i suggest some kind of pressurized system. just trying to look out and make sure everything goes good for ya.
