Vinyl Coated Mushroom Anchor toxic?

I want to use this anchor to do some aquascaping with but Im not sure if it would be toxic or not. The searching on I done on PVC and Vinyl has given me mixed results. Some say its toxic and other do not.

Has anyone used something like this before? Anyone know if it would be safe or not? What about a non coated cast iron anchor, would it be safe? I have pool filter sand substrait and a pH of 7.4.

cast iron will rust... you know that anchor you linked to is a boat anchor. its probably prety big. i dont think it will fit nicely into any average sized aquariums. but if its a boat anchor i would asume its non-toxic but cant really say for sure.

PVC is definitely not toxic. Vinyl should be safe too.

Thanks guys. I think I ll give it a shoot, sounds like it will be ok.

This anchor is 8 lbs and about 7x7x7 inches. It will fit nicely in my 90 gallon. The idea is to attach a rope covered in moss to the anchor and set the anchor next to a large tree stump. The sand will be littered with some black river stones and a few broken terra cotta pots. Ill post up a few pics when I get done.

Here is a pic as promised. I think the anchor fits nicely in the tank. Now I just need to find some Java Moss to stuff in the rope and either find a good looking stump or rearrange my driftwood a bit. The rope is poly-propylene to it floats on its own. It stops about an inch from the water surface.

What do ya think so far?

Cool..... I kept an old four bladed aluminum propeler off my old boat in my FW tanks for years. It slowly corroded to the point it didnt look good after nearly a decade.

Next, add a creatively cut to look like corrosion, beer can and a couple of fishing lures firmly hooked into the drift wood.
