But this book I borrowed from my school library was nice too, it was about pond ecology, mostly about different types of plants, algae, micro-organisms, etc, was nice too.

Peter Hiscock's Encyclopedia of Aquarium Plants and Diana Walstad's Ecology of the Planted Aquarium are 2 I found the most helpful/informative.

very informative but I wish I had designed the book for her. The quality of paper and design can be a lot better but that might make the book a little more expensive.

Christel Kasselmann's Aquarium Plants

I don't like Hiscock's Encyclopedia because it shows many emersed plants only (instead of submersed), esp. swords (surprice surprice).

I like Walstad, too. And Baensch Aquarium Atlases are nice picture books.
Some of the Gerhard Brünner's Aquarium Plant books are great, too (I have only seen them in German, though), and Helmut Mühlberg's The Complete Guide to Water Plants is a really worth it, as well.

New reseach on the Echinodorus & Helanthium in cultivation published in 2011 in the article

One more vote for Christel Kasselmann's Aquarium Plants. Great for information on aquatic plants.
Nature Aquarium World or the new book on Mr.Amano's scape from 1985-2009 for inspiration on aquascaping.
