Cloudy water went clear by adding fish

I was stupid when I first started my tank and did not wash the substrates well enough. I fought for about a week to filter the crap out of the tank and pull a very large amount of clay particles and sand powder from the tank. Finally it calmed down to where it was pretty clear water but I could tell it was still cloudy. During the major dust removal I was using a flocculation agent and it helped. When things started clearing I planted the tank and then stole a few guppies from a friend. It seemed unchanged for about a week and then BLAMO crystal clear. I put more fish and plants in and within a day it went back to being perfectly clear. I can look down the long side of my 55g and the water doesn't look foggy.

My question is was this a bacterial bloom that masked my cleaning of the clay dust from the water? Was it just a random act of God cleaning up the tank? I am not worried about the water at all but I am curious as to why its stunningly clear without any trying.

PS. the tank is mostly cycled and when putting the fish in I added water and filterpads that came directly from a fully cycled tank to help compensate for the increased bioload. Everyone is healthy.

I've had 4 instances of non-green cloudiness within the first 4 months of setting up my tank. Two of those were bacterial blooms.

When I first set up the tank, I used Eco Complete black which, while mostly gravel sized, has particle sizes which range from tiny (clay sized) to huge (marble sized). There was significant clouding after I installed the tank for about a week, but it eventually settled.

For the first bacterial bloom, I thought the fix was due to the addition of .5L of Purigen to my canister filter (water slowly cleared after 3 days). But then a second bloom hit about a month later. I "recharged" the Purigen (which was a milk chocolate color at that point) via the prescribed bleach treatment, put it back into my canister, but the bloom persisted for a week, when it simply "went away."

Finally, I had some odd morning cloudiness caused by a reaction between surface scum and the lights. You can see the video here. The fix for that was to arrange for surface movement to break up the scum.
FYI,

Cool thanks! I am not too worried about it but was surprised at how quickly things changed.
