Phosphate

I just checked my phosphate level in my tank and it is at zero(Red Sea test kit) as of right now i dose,

1 1/2 tablespoons of magnesium sulfate (mgs04)
3/4 tablespoon of potassium sulfate (k2so4)
1 teaspoon csm+b
1/2 teaspoon chelated iron
1/4 teaspoon potassium nitrate(kno3)

The tank is a low light tank with only 80 watts on a 75 gallon tank there is an algae problem that i am trying to get rid of. The plants in the tank are Amazon Sword,Wisteria, and Anacharis. I have a pressurized co2 system that is not in use and a extra light that would add another 80 watts of lighting.

I do a weekly water change of about 75% to 80% and dose ferts. I have mono potassium phosphate. So how much Phosphate should i have in my tank?

I'd add 1/4 teaspoon maybe 2x a week etc.

I am adding what has been recommended to me from other members to try to solve the algae and plant growth problems i am having. Why would you ask? Is there something you would change?

Thanks, Greg

although some people like to add extra iron, most people get all that they need from their trace (csm+b). if i'm right it looks like you are dosing about 1.75ppm of Fe. seems high to me

what is the gh of your water?

Why are you dosing such a large amount of CSM+B relative to KNO3? Normally you would dose about 3-4 times as much KNO3 as CSM+B. And, about the same amount of KH2PO4 as of CSM+B. I suggest you look at the fertilizing forum sticky on dosing, and dose about half or less of what it recommends, since you may have low light. I'm not sure just how much light you do have, without knowing both the type of light and the tank dimensions you have.

My GH is 16 (red sea test kit)

Hoppy

My tank is very low light of 80 watts on a typical 75 gallon tank. I am dosing what i am per other members. I have looked at the fertilizing forum sticky and will give it a lot of my attention when i have the time.

Thanks, Greg

if your gh is 16 you do NOT need mgso4. gh is a reading of both magnesium and calcium
