question about Rotala macranda...

how come the leaf of my broadleaf Rotala macranda will eventually grow small and not as red? sort of pink colour? not enough light? co2?

I'd say it coudl be not enuf light, not enuf CO2, or very lightly nitrates too high. macranda really wants 5ppm or less of nitrate to be a vivid red.

The smaller leaf size is due to lack of nutrients, and the plant going pink on you is due to excess nitrates. With this plant, as the tank gets leaner, the plant tends to become less red.

I've heard rotala macarandra is very demanding, no? I'll have to agree with the others, the problem is probably not enough nutrients.

Another lighting thing you may notice is that it will turn a much more yellow.
When macronda is grown emersed the leaves are thinner and this color.
They SHIP terrible in this condition summer time.
