Will Glosso grow at a KH of 7, pH of 6.8?

I recieved my glosso from a fellow aquarist five days ago. Some of the glossostigmas are turning yellow, others are turning transparent and clear. I heard that glossos thrive in soft water with high light and CO2. Well, I have a constant KH of 7 degrees, a constant pH of 6.8, so the CO2 level comes out to be around 15-25 ppm. Temperature is around 80 farenheit. I have 45watts of normal flourescent above the 10 gallon. What's going on?

Your dosing regimen as well as nitrate, phosphate, and GH levels will help us.

It sounds to me like it is just hurtin from the transition... was it shipped ? Was it kept moist ? Your parameters are OK for glosso, I would give it time. What other plants are you growing in this tank and are they doing OK ??

Buck,
Along with the glossos are jungle vals, parrot's feathers, java moss, java fern. Everything is growing decent, the java fern is not growing but it's not dying either.

Rolo,
I don't have a dosing regimen. I'm new to keeping live plants. The tank has been up for a month now. During that time I had a lot of plants and they were growing very well, but just recently, I gave away most of the plants leaving the plants mentioned above. I just received the glosso. Here are my reading as of yesterday:

nitrate: 0ppm
phosphate: .1ppm
pH: 6.8
KH: 7dKH

I can already tell you what they are going to say. You need to dose nitrates to about ten and phosphates to about .5. Right Guys?

Quick assimilator, lol.

You might want to start a dosing routine. The lack of nutrients in the tank will degrade plants very quickly, and it looks like you're heading in that direction (glosso should grow in as light green in the beginning, but eventually turn a deeper shade of green as it grows in).

Java fern is a slower grower than the others that you've listed. The faster growing plants are stripping the water of the nutrients and that's probably the reason why you haven't noticed any new growth on the java (it could just be getting used to your tank also). You're running decent lighting in the tank that you really get the ball rolling on fertilizing (I dose on a daily basis when I don't forget).

Rex has a great guide on fertilizing in general (http://rexgrigg.com/main.htm) and there's plenty of threads on this matter. Just start out slowly and increase the amount, versus dumping a mass quantity of it in.

Eric
