What kind of fish is this?

Hello -
I just aquired a fish from a friend- she said it was a great algae eater but she was moving and had to give it up. Having a planted tank I thought I could take it. When I saw the thing I new it was not going to work out but I felt obligated to take it as my friend had to drive a long way to give me the fish. I can't figure out what kind of fish it is. It is about 5 inches, orange on the dorsal half and white on the ventral half. It has a turned-up white nose with a sucker mouth underneath. This fish is spastic and is already disrupting the substrate. Any ideas what this is??-before I take it to the pet store for credit.

Thanks Dave

Is it a chinese algae eater, shown at the bottom right? (there's a golden variety shown as well)

No -this fish is orange not gold and its nose is turned upwards. I bet it isnt truly classified as an alge eater.

Does it have red eyes (albino)? That orange with a sucker is really throwing me off... quite a few albino's have that kind of coloration. Perhaps a female albino bushy-nosed pleco?

From the description, it sounds like a sailfin molly (it does eat some algae)...I really can't think of any other fish that gets to be around that size, fits the physical description (upturned mouth) and eats algae.

Here's some pictures:

Can you tell us more about the body type? Is it similar to any fish you know of?
