Someone posted this in the recent thread "Paintball CO2 refills in North Dallas" (https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/showthread.php?t=798466)"

"Fish Gallery in Dallas refills C02 tanks. Not sure how their pricing compares, but its also a pretty neat store. They have some cool stuff for sale if you've never been there."

Thanks for the reply. Just called Fish Gallery. I believe its around $15 for a #5 tank, and $24 for a #10 tank over at fish gallery.

I know this is an old thread, but I have been looking for the same info everywhere and found out Koetter Fire Protection service in dallas does refill CO2 tanks. For a 10 lb tank, they charged me 20 + tax.. If I remember correctly the guy who filled said, they charge a minimum of 20 $ minimum regardless of the tank size. So a 5lb or a 15 lb is going to cost the same. I took my tank and they filled it right there and I was out in 10-15 min.

I can confirm the earlier mentioned prices for fish gallery. Haven't tried to get my 20 # filled there though. North Dallas Aquarium fills CO2 as well, but they are nearly twice as much. And they always tell me to chill my tank before I bring it in so it can be filled to capacity. I understand the benefits of doing that, but it never seems to be a problem for the fish gallery people to do that without the pre-chill.

I use Texas Brewing Inc. which is in Haltom City, but you may check if there is a brewing store near you. They charge 15 for a 5lb cylinder.

I use mesquite welding and it cost $17.00 for a 20# tank that's swapping your empty for a full one.

I was going to air and gas on forest. fish stores charge to much for c02. welding or gas supply stores are best.

I'm actually still looking to add a CO2 system, but everything brand new is such a hard hit up front. I'm looking for used equipment, or even at least need to find a used 5# tank. Do yal know if any of these places have used CO2 tanks and/or regulator for sell or do they just refill tanks only?

I already checked Dallas North Aquarium and they said nope.

Hey, do you all know if these facilities sell full (used) tanks as well? I wasn't able to bring the one I purchased back in Colorado...

Also don't have a car anymore so this might be a bit of a struggle.

How I feel about non-planted aquariums.

Hey fellow Dallas planted members! I was just looking around on craigslist for CO2 tanks, and found this gem.

You can find the post pretty easily with a quick search, and it's very recent. The seller just wants an offer to "get them gone" but the original listing says $50 each which is still a steal. These look like 20lb and 50lb tanks, so it's an awesome deal. Since I'm a student without a car... it'd would be awesome if someone could pick one up for me (I'd compensate for gas too obviously hehe) but yeah, just thought I'd let everyone know, especially if you don't browse craigslist regularly.

They look old, but the larger tanks go for hundreds new so it's definitely worth checking out at least, and the cost of new hydraulics tests would likely be very worth it.
patfat and patfat like this.
