[WTB][Local Pickup - NYC] Black Substrate with Nutrients ~ Only around 5lbs

Hi everyone. I'm located in East Village and am looking for a roughly 5-10 lbs of black substrate that has nutrients to grow plants (i.e. Eco-complete, Flourite Black, ADA Amazonia Powder Black).

The bag could've been opened already! I'm just looking for a value deal because I'm a poor college student with a really tight budget now.

Thank you!

Hahah I've tried capping dirt with sand. Had a horrible experience with anaerobic pockets bubbling up and making everything smelling like rotten eggs. I'd rather just stick to a simple one-type substrate.

Thanks though!

Eco and the others don't actually have much in the way of nutrients, of course. You'll still need ferts and root tabs. You need a soil-based substrate if you want it to actually have significant amounts of nutrients.

Stinky huh? Well that won't work. Have you been down to Pacific Aquarium? They're fairly reasonable & usually stock Eco.

Truth. I think I'm be alright as long as it's better for plants than sand. Planning on dosing ferts regardless!

- More just looking for anyone who as an extra bag of whatever substrate around that I can pay to take off their hands - Trying to fill up a Fluval Chi I got of craigslist a while back

Yeah, I usually check it out once a month but I'll go see if they sell a smaller bag for a good price again.

Thanks

I have an extra bag of Eco complete 20 lbs and sealed. I purchased 2 bags from Petco but ended up using only 1. You can have it at my cost. If interested, please PM me for details.
