CO2 in the five boroughs?

I just purchased a 24g cube, let the build begin!

Where in the five boroughs can I refill a CO2 tank? Any laws governing pressurized containers on the subway I should be aware of? How long do different sized tanks typically last?

I currently live in Chinatown, but will be moving to UES or Queens in 7 months. I haven't bought my CO2 tank yet since I figure this info will influence my decision on what type/size tank to purchase. Anyone looking to sell CO2 stuff please shoot me a PM. Thanks.

Im not sure of the laws for pressurized tanks on the subway. But I have definitely been denied access years ago when I was getting a gas refill for my mini weld. You might want to look into someone who has a car or a zipcar account to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the info, I'll give Monster Aquarium a call. I've been meaning to check them out in person. I'll continue to research this and let everyone know what I find.

Looks like there might be options to rent tanks and have them delivered when it's time to swap them out.

Any idea how long these CO2 tanks last with typical use (1-2 bubbles per min)?

Renting is a good idea, I wish I had done that. A lot of tap/beverage places will ask for a deposit and may even deliver.

It's unsafe so you can't use public transportation unless you hide it.

How much do CO2 fill ups normally cost these days? I remember I got my 5lb tank filled up for about $12 couple years ago but when I went back to the same place last week they said $22.

I use Mckinney Welding supply in Manhattan.

I usually swap 20lbs tanks, it is like $25-30 last time I went there.

I take the subway too, Columbus Circle (busy spot). Never really had a problem, but I use a duffel bag to cover most of it.

Was looking into Mckinney myself. Would you happen to know if they refill paintball cartridges?

I'm in 11206, I was using TW smith up in greenpoint, but they are expensive.

Recently heard of autotap on 958 grand street BK. Will try that next.

I use co2 for homebrewing, really should change one of my regulators for my tank.

Presto is in Astoria, 19th Ave and 41st street I believe. I filled a 10lb tank for around $17 in November. No tank swap so if you have a new tank and would like to keep it, this is a good place to go.

Monster also has regulators, diffusers, etc. I believe he has the Milwaukee Regulator in stock.
