Where to buy Manzanita?

Anyone know where I can find some manzanita? Im looking for a root structure. It needs to be thick unlike the stuff they sell at pacific. Any other stores besides pacific that sells manzanita?

You could try the Flower District in Manhattan which is down a few blocks from Penn Station/MSG. Though they only sell the branches and not stumps from what I've seen.

You could get from Tom Barr, he sells packages over on his main site. I've gotten from him and was really happy. I bought a package of branches for a smaller tank and he sent me a nice mix. Larger packages he has photos.
Plus, price wise it was a better deal (including shipping) than I've seen at NYC LFS'.

I was on the hunt for a nice piece of manzanita also the last few months. Flower district wasn't so good except this one place that only seem to sell just wood, but you would have to buy a 5 foot piece since that was the smallest piece they sold and chop it down. Fauna in manhattan had some nice pieces too. I was there last month so I am not sure how the current stock is there. There ghost wood was really nice. Other than that not much around at any LFS unless you looking for malaysian driftwood

Is the wood there safe for aquariums?

I would imagine so, A few people here have done it and had no issues. But I would definitely boil it and soak it for a very long time

Problem is, I don't have any pots big enough to fit a large piece of driftwood.

Pick up a large Rubbermaid container from Home Depot and use that to soak large pieces of wood. Use hot water from the tap and change it once every day.

Another problem is that I live in an apartment so getting a big box will take up a lot of space.

Monster aquarium in Queens just got a shipment of wood in. I think there is a sale too.

They sell ryuoh stone and ADA stuff too, so it's a nice place to check out.

EDIT:
They put this pic on facebook.. 20% off if you mention the ad.

FYI, The LFS in our area dont commonly carry loose manzanita you see in tanks on tpt. The pieces in the photo above are either malaysian driftwood or the ADA branded horn wood (which are actually preferred for smaller tanks)

The Manzanita that one comes across in local pet shops here bolted to slate with plastic plants glued on. Fistown u.s.a. in ramsey and in Bayside sell those and are suited to larger tanks.

Its probably worth mentioning that we've been encouraging many shops to post photos of recent shipments and deliveries that are often viewed in our facebook group.

Stealthy they do not have huge stumps. However they do have some stump like ones and it's worth going and looking at them. Also no need to look at any specific social media locations. Just go directly to the source and they can provide enough information just ask the local shops and they are more than willing to help you get what you're looking for.

Like for example here is a few pics from Monster Aquarium.

Hope that helps.
