TDS max 200? I thought neos preferred 300.

the original wild type might be but as my understanding 250 should be the higher range for Neos, but never tested. I always keep my shrimp tanks under 200. for most part of NY TDS should be under 200, if you want to try 300, you have to raise it at your own risk.

They are a beautiful blue! i don't keep shrimp because I thought they needed lower temps. Never really did much research. Do they need their own tank?

Yes,if you keep them with bigger fish, they definitely will treat them as snack.
