got some pFertz...now what?

So i got the macro solution set (n,p,k) from Pfertz today and was wondering about few things.

I have 2 tanks with the follow specs.

2.5 gallon
has moss mostly, and red tiger lotus. has TT and fire red shrimp.
no co2 anymore. AS substrate, has 13W desk lamp about 4 inches from surface few hours a day

3.5 gallon
a bit more heavily planted
has anubias nana, dwarf water leaf lettuce, amazon frogbit, some trident java fern, hydrocotyle japan.
no co2, shrimp stratum substrate and 23W light fixture about 5 inches from top of surface, few hours a day.

what is the starting point i can begin dosing?
what are some signs of overdosing i should look for to prevent death in my shrimp and fish, and to watch out for algae outbreaks?
thanks!

Not sure on the dosing. Have you tried contacting pfertz for exact dosing instructions?

You can try using http://calc.petalphile.com/ but I'm not sure how accurate their recommended dosages are for your small tanks.

If you want to go hardcore, get a phosphate test, API and Seachem makes them as well as a nitrogen test. You can target nitrogen and phosphate levels that work for your tank. Stick to the recommended dosage for now though until you see how your plants react.

EDIT - I see you have small nano tests. Forget the tests. You will have to use a few drops at most.

honestly for the plants listed, there's no need to dose unless they are high light tanks with co2. The potassium and copper will likely hinder your shrimp before anything else.

Micro would be the one with copper.

I got them too after I saw your post and then noticed they had a sale, lol

yea i mean, i don't particularly go crazy for hardcore planted tanks but i do have some plants and they've been looking a little...bleak. not as lush green as some of the others. im just worried about dosing my shrimp tank.

i have these pfertz npk and micros and results are visible but nominal at best. There was a bigger difference adding a third 26w 6500k lamp

1 pump of each daily, switch between macros (N/P/K) and micros ... never both simultaneously. I confirmed the dosage with pferts for my 20g.

Honestly, dry ferts will get you best bang for the buck.
