You know who's not bothered by hurricanes?

This guy!

Know what he'd do if something did bother him?

Hide in the mud.

I love frogs. I'm thinking of closing down some fish tanks and getting more into amphibians. Of course I have to see if I and the fish survive the hurricane first.

Hi froggy! He's cute. Is that your pond he's living in?

I'm too chicken to get into amphibians; they just seem so fragile.

Ahh how cute!
Here's hoping you all stay above water! I moved from the east coast only a few years ago, so I totally understand.

Back on the forum after two moves across two years! Slowly getting back into the hobby!

Nope, he's staying in a bookshelf aquarium next to my desk through the winter. He eats one or two worms every day or so. I thought they were touchy too, but this guy and some salamanders I have are super easy to take care of. They exist only to relax, hide and eat. (Eventually I'll deal with getting them to mate)

I was very surprised to learn that they prefer coolish temperatures - I'm just used to thinking of cold blooded stuff needing tropical or almost tropical temps, but North American amphibians prefer it much lower. Some of the salamanders prefer temps in the 60's.

So far this hurricane is pretty boring. (knock on wood) Of course it still has some time to throw a tree at my roof.

Thanks. I'm honestly not too worried. (knocks on wood again.)

Is that the BAS frog?
Yeah, amphibians typically need cooler waters... once temps hit 80 or above, youre in danger of killing a lot of them.
