Are the aru2 the Melanotaenia species or Psedumugil gertrudae?

JMLamp, send gnod a PM if you wish to ask for things like shipping.

I'm just trying not to get your penalized or the thread locked.

mine are Psedumugil gertrudae. i got them from a reputable seller in the US, which i cleaned out his inventory.
I have been picking eggs, and trying to raise frys, which are a whole different challenge in itself but I just don't have the time to dedicate to raise the frys either - I want someone, if I sell them, who will take great care and try to raise frys to share with others - including myself. This last point is really important as it's really hard to find these fish available.

I'm going to try to give preference to local sales for all of this as I don't really want to ship.

Sorry if the question sounds too obvious but these fish peaked my interest. How much effort will it require to raise the fry? i imagine a spare tank is required but do they require anything along the lines of raised salinity, feeding live foods only or high temps?

i think the hardest part is once the fry are born, raising them the first week or so.
you're suppose to feed them green water algae (only one of many methods).
I've had successful fry being born but have had no success in getting to the next step.
I did not have a separate tank (no room) and I chose to raise them in a small container until they're big enough to eat baby brine shrimp.
When using green water algae, you're suppose to drop the water into the fry tank but also have to replace the water so it doesn't foul up the water. Using the tank water that the parents are in is fine from my experience and readings.

I'd love to have those fish, but, like you, I don't have the time to devote to breeding them and raising the fry. Good luck finding the right home for them. They're beautiful fish.
