Sometimes assassins don't work. Do you have shrimp? If you don't I'd go with loaches of some sort.

ah that sucks, yeah assassin them then. Remove as many as you can, feed less, and drop some assassins in.

Also if you crush the snail, you can drop em in for the shrimp. They love eating smushed snails.

Don't kill too many, it'll spike your nitrites and ammonia lol. I made that mistake once

It's always a losing battle, since the MTS reproduce so quickly that the assassins can't keep up. My assassins usually end up assassinating themselves by getting sucked out of their shells by the filter intake.

I had a different experience. I had so many MTS that when I'd put in zuchinni slices for my plecos they'd be covered in snails within 20 minutes. I think that there was nothing in that tank that ever bothered them, so they were bold.

I got six assassin snails and after about 6 months noticed they'd had babies. I think they did well because I was feeding a lot of my homemade food, which is a little meaty, and they'd eat that too. Eventually it got to the point where if I tried feeding my homemade food I was in the same situation I'd been in with the MTS, only now with assassins.

That tank gets mainly string beans for plecos and microworms for CPD's now, with my homemade thrown in for everyone including the snails to share and the snail population is more to my liking.

There are still some pondsnails and MTS in the tank but I only see them inside of the filter, never in the tank itself, so they must live desperate, hunted lives.
