Sorry for your loss...
How do you keep water temperature down?
It was hot yesterday, my tanks went up to 85 when I got home. I did a 30% WC to brought it down to 81. I ordered a clip fan from Amazon, it will arrive tomorrow.

The tanks in my room were 85 too (room runs a bit warmer than the rest) and turning my room fan on got it back to 81-80ish.

My thermostat at home is set to 78 when we are not home. My office where the 20L is gets warmer but I have a fan on. Water temp is never that bad though because it would take so long to get up to 80 that by that time the a/c kicks in before we come home and catastrophe averted.

Get one of these. Be careful because it can take temps down to the low 60's if it's not a HOT day.

Do you aim the clip fan right at the water surface? I had a huge fan pointed at the front of my tank all day yesterday, and the thermometer was still reading at around 87F! I feel awful for my fish.

Yup, point it at an angle if you can towards the water surface. Or have it blowing across the surface longways.

That's what I'm getting. That little 6" fan can bring it down to 60's?

i actually use a box fan. the cheap ones that sell at home depot for $12.

they only point one direction but are relatively quiet and move a lot more air than the osscilating ones. My tanks hit 83 and the older neos were the first to go. the white crystals were the next bunch that croaked one by one. i didnt get home until it was too late and rushed to WC all my tanks.

I guess they start to die off at around 82ish. The tank in my room currently houses snowballs n tigers and the few snowballs I have left just died yesterday morning due to the heat. Kind of sad since I was going to transfer them to another tank outside of my room which has cooler water.
