Looking for Koi

Hey guys, its the beginning of pond season and I'm looking to stock my pond. If you guys know of any/see good quality koi in Nassau, Queens or BK, please let me know the store location. I would prefer small kois as they are cheaper and I like growing them out myself.

I think stores are just starting to stock now so the two places I went to didn't have many. Let me know! Thanks.

I'd check on www.koiphen.com.

Good luck with your hunt and please share with us what you end up finding!

hehe I'm already a lurker of that site, I noticed you were a member too laura. I didn't see a buy/sell forum and I was hoping to avoid a shipping fee, thats why I was going to try local. Thanks for the suggestion though.

There is a buy/sell forum, but you may need a certain number of posts to see it? I know there's koi offered for sale all the time in it. It might be a good idea to post a thread asking for some breeder recommendations local to you.

A couple of places around here in brooklyn have koi. On 8th ave and 65th street, Royal Aqua has koi for sale, but since i was never heavy into Koi, I don't know what's good and what's not, but I do remember that they had stuff like Taiwan, japanese, etc from different countries. If not, Pacific on delancy street should have a good selection.

Theres a Koi breeder in upstate NY thats on KoiPhen (I'm KoiCribben there). I remember reading his massive holding tank construction threads there for a while. It's been a couple years so I'm a little foggy on the name. Guy had a beautiful facility, I remember reading a lot about spray in pond liners from him.

I'd break your lurk and make a post asking about reputable Koi people in NY, KoiPhens full of people willing to help

Excellent, I think it was Sugarloaf Koi I was thinking of if that helps. Googling makes me thing that he may not be in business still but he may just be laying low. Good luck! (from another Koi fan)!!
