Syracuse, NY Petstores

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any pet stores in Syracuse, New York that sold Pygmy Gouramis. I have only found 1 so far and that is Ack's Exotic Pets.

My roommate says I'll die by giant turtle.

I did some forum hunting and found the Syracuse Aquarium in Jamesville.

I called them and they said they didn't sell pygmy gouramis.
Thanks anyway!

I am changing the topic of this thread. I have enough fish. Now I would like plant recommendations. It's a 5 gallon tank with a 9 watt fluorescent bulb. I need plants that get bushy enough to give good fish cover, and not too delicate.
Low light ideas: Crypts, Sagittaria, Java Fern, Moss, Anubias, Hygrophilia
Already have: 3 Anubias nana of various sizes

I probably would not be able to travel anywhere.(I am a college student with a license, but no car) And I am not a fan of snails. I was going to get a bunch of suggestions and see what I could find of those at Petsmart/Petco/LFS in Syracuse, the next time I get a chance to go.

Hi,
Sorry I don't get into the local forums much. I live in downtown Syracuse.

There's an auction on Saturday the 16th (two days from now!) run by the Central NY Aquarium Society. I guarantee you'll find all the plants/ferns/moss you could ever hope to want there.

http://www.cnyas.org/

I hope you see this in time to get there - if not, respond here and let us know. We'll get you hooked up!

Back again - if you didn't make the auction you missed some great deals on plants of all kinds. They had a bit of everything there, and although I am not a member (yet) of the user group, I will be soon! I was impressed with the turnout. There must have been 150 people there. Scads of assorted plants tanks foods - you name it. They have monthly meetings and I'm told they have at least two tables set up at every meeting with assorted aquarium stuff for sale or trade, plants included. Sounds like a great way to network and get into bartering/trading plants and other goodies. As for stores in Syracuse, I can tell you that the Petsmart on Erie Blvd. has the best selection of plants of that genre of store. Even beats Fairmount Aquarium in that department. Eddie is a great manager and is very friendly and willing to help with his knowledge. I recommend that store out of any of the big boxes (for plants). The Petco in Northern Lights Plaza is pretty good too, but I think the aforementioned Petsmart is a better choice. Have never been to Syracuse Aquarium in Jamesville - I hear it's a good place, but I'm a city commuter and don't have a car either. No buses go out there, so...
