Aquarium Adventure is closed

Aquarium Adventure went belly up.
They have been doing poorly for a while, not enough sales.

I guess that's what happens when a store charges 30%-40% more for everything.

For all those that knew Pete, he is currently working for the company that purchased Aquarium Adventure, Pets Warehouse.

The store in Mineola is currently closed. Unsure when they will open again, but hopefully soon.

Pets Warehouse never seems to have rare fish.
Aquarium adventure had oddballs in the tanks at all times.

Kinda unfortunate, especially around the holidays.

i went completely out of my way to go there the other day to find out its becoming a pets warehouse. even though everything was overpriced, their plants were great and they always had some really interesting fish. too bad they aren't going to be around anymore.

I have a feeling the plants portion of the business will keep going on.
I know they sold a lot of plants there. Otherwise, I'll be in business this spring lol.
Pets Warehouse has nothing regarding co2/lines/hookups etc.

I was there either last week or two weeks ago. They were having a 50% off all livestock sale. I didn't know it was a closing sale. Ohh well

Not surprised. The guy who ran the service end of thiings left a few years ago and took clients with him. The store couldn't stay afloat on just in-store sales.

The owners of the store weren't paying the suppliers.
I hear they were pulling over $2 million in sales per year.
The rent was $35,000 per month. Figure electric and other misc $200,000.

I guess they milked it for what it was worth and got out.

Petswarehouse is a good business. Suppliers aren't specialized though.

I guess thats how they lasted that long. That was about a 9000 sq ft store. Some off the high end installs are very lucrative and they move a ton of product that way. Once that went away the bottom fell out.

I'd be happy with the pets warehouse pricing, even still I buy most of my equipment online anyways. Aquarium adventure was a nice store to browse. They're currently negotiating the rent with the owner of the commercial space. Not many large stores like this location left on Long Island. Pets of New Hyde Park shut down 2-3 months ago.

For exotics try Country Critters in Patchogue and for good pricing try Aquahut in Coram/Selden. You also have Magic Isle in Centereach. They are all probably within 15 minutes of each other.

Far to travel for me. I'm in Huntington. I've been to the Country Critters, one day I'll take a ride out to aquahut, I know you've mentioned it to me before.

In todays market, it is tough to keep a business like that going, plus their crazy prices didn't help. They did have nice tanks to look at. The stock wasn't that great. Anyone that charged over $12 for a GBR is out of their mind.
They should have learned from Fishtown USA.(even though they do not have good customer service, their prices are low and the selection is good)

country critters is nearby, i didn't find much but they do have some nano type fish. My uncle donated his bumbelbee grouper to them, i still see it, its HUGE.

anyway i like Magic Isle when I'm at my parents house.

Aquarium adventures was nice to walk around, but i never actually bought anything there.

Yikes 30 bucks for a single ram. You should be able to buy a pair of Electric blue rams for that price.
