Where to buy CO2 tanks.

Where did you guys / girls buy your CO2 tanks from?? Anywhere local? I was thinking of buying a crappy looking steel one from ebay, since we have to swap them anyway in the NYC area. No point in buying a nice and fancy aluminum one right??

I got mine here http://www.beveragefactory.com/draft...anks/co2.shtml and there are About 3 places that i know of that fill tanks. American compressed gases has a two locations one in maspeth, and one in yonkers, and theres another place down is astoria that also fills tanks up,so no need to swap.

Check out Craigs List or your newspaper classified ads. Call nearby Fire Extinguisher Supply Stores - they convert old fire extinguisher bottles to CO2 tanks.

Fire extinguisher stores/refillers. Dirt cheap and no shipping.

Go here:-
http://www.prest-o-sales.com
They give good deal in refiling and also if you want to buy tank from them. They don't swap your tank...refiling is done within 5 minutes.

Cheers!!!

The simplex place mentioned above will fill tanks but it is kind of hassle like almightyshux said.

Check to see whether you have any Airgas stores in your area. They are a large chain of welding supply stores. I refilled my 5lb tank there. $12 for a refill is pretty good in my opinion.

Where do you go to refill in Brooklyn or Queens that's open on Saturday that doesn't require exchanges?

The presto sales place is your best bet for refills. Most places dont do refills at all.

How long the tank lasts depends on the size of your co2/fish tank.
On a 65g a 5lb tank lasted me 6 months, so far my 20lb lasted me 1.5 years.

Prestos is closed on saturdays. I called libertygas. They want $185 for a 10lb aluminum tank for co2. I may just pick up one on ebay. But if I buy it brand new, I don't want to do exchange.
