I'd be willing to bet you'd be able to acclimate most plants to the 80+ temp range, some plants are very delicate and may suffer, but some are really tough, like Anubias, I dunk my Anubias in bleach water for 15 minute baths once in a while to kill BBA and haven't even lost a leaf...

I've kept plants and fish up to 82 degrees. I've never had discus though.

Anyone know of any local conventions coming up or clubs? I've always wanted to attend. How would you go about finding out if there is any?

What goes on at these events? Is it like a group of people just talking fish or are there displays and stuff to look at too?

Usually everyone meets who are fish and aquatic plant enthusiasts. Trade, sell, auction and you have a good time. Also you will have speakers who come and give talks about different subjects.

Hello from Farmingdale! Thought I'd pop in to say hello to fellow LawnGuyLanders.

I am actually on a hunt for a 75-125 (long) gallon tank with stand. if anyone knows someone selling/getting rid of, let me know!

Welcome!!!

I just went trough this post, got me very curious, someone said that they are keeping discus for a while and listening to advise from LFS, very interesting.
Dropping a discus tank temperature below 80, very interesting, I wish you the best of luck.
As stated, there are limited plant selection for discus tanks.
The key here if there are discus in the tank - it is a discus tank.
Wish discus research is key!

If you are looking for plants, look for Gordon, he is on LI
