There is someone in Maryland Heights (a suburb in St. Louis county since I don't see where in MO you live based on your profile) who sells trimmings from his tank(s) and Java Fern is one type he normally has. On Craigslist run a search for "live aquarium plants Maryland Heights" in the "for sale" section and his listing should be in the results.

I'm probably the person mentioned here - yes, I have Java Fern and live in Maryland Heights. I often have other plants too, if you're interested.

Bacopa Caroliniana
Ludwigia Ovalis
Narrow-leaf Ludwigia
Hygro Augustifolia
A. Reineckii Cardinalis
Crypt Wendtii Bronze

Waiting for Anubias Nana and Vallisneria Spiralis to grow back in, but I'll have some eventually.

Here is a photo from last year - java fern is on driftwood at center-right. Currently I have more java fern than is present in this photo. Tank is six feet long for reference.

So is it kinda like crypt? I like the look of it and will it stick to stuff pretty good?

And could I have it emersed? Or does it have to be under the water completely?

Yes, Java Fern sticks to driftwood very well, and probably grows better that way than in the substrate. I don't know if it will grow emersed, but shouldn't be too hard to find that answer on the forum somewhere.
