Lovely Pets Aquarium Store in Quincy is one of the better ones I've been in. They had a dozen species of shrimp when I was there, too.

Quincy Aquarium is a decent stop. Picked up 5 more rummynose tetras the other week from him. $5- each, all healthy, and survived. Had some killifish, and neo shrimp, lot's of goldfish. Chinese made rimless tanks as shop tanks, does saltwater as well.

Definately worth the trip to check out if in the area. Neds, tropical isle, lovely pets, fish nook, quincy aquarium are my main 5 go to stores at this point. Not much else out there.
Fin fur feather in Hanover just sold over the weekend, its going to be geared towards birds, and reptiles. Krystal in Auburn closed. Saltwater scene is a hit or miss now as well for shops.

Just went to Quincy Aquarium! Talked to the shop owner for about 30 minutes - he's a really amazing guy! Cared a ton about the fish he had for sale and a lot about how the business works. I saw some rummynoses and they looked beautiful. He had a lot of baby fish which he had been breeding himself; always a good sign that its a passion and not just a business.

I'll check out the other shops, too. Someone else mentioned lovely pets so I definitely need to go there. =)

Can't be the same one I went to a few weeks ago? It was disgusting, tanks had food so rotten that it looked like it was actually alive, dead fish everywhere, the discus were all on the verge of death and most fish showed signs of disease. The stupid blood parrots were under such intense red light some of their eyes were messed up?? Lots of goldfish though...

I went to Pets World in the Quincy / Weymouth area a few weeks ago. It was disgusting. I guess I should avoid there as well...

There were a TON of dead fish and the coral tank looked EXTREMELY sketch.

I went to Tropical Isle a few days ago and that place is amazing. So much selection and VERY knowledgeable staff. The selection was unbelievable.

Tropic isle is legit. Little spensive but you're getting good staff help. That , uncle neds and lovely pets are my go to. Aquatic treasures in Watertown is owned by the quincy aq. Guy and is a dive as well.

I'm right down the street from Neds. I'm was in there yesterday and they had a decent selection of shrimp. Ned always posts new shipments on the website. Just go to the forum section and look for the latest post. Looks like he's getting more shrimp in tomorrow. I used to live in Quincy and would go to Lovely Pets regularly. Haven't been there in like 5 years, but the owners were always really nice. If you need CO2 tanks or refills in Quincy, Gorham Fire Appliance Co on Willard Street is solid.

Well, guess I got in at the Quincy place in time before It went to [censored][censored][censored][censored] lol. Yeah, Ned's Is really the premier place to go to for FW needs. I've really been trying to give my business to Lovely Pets though as they are 10 minutes away, but, hard to get specific fish I'm always wanting. Finding myself really getting into micro fish these days, and ramping up to step up my shrimp game. Online I can't seem to ever want to pull the trigger due to shipping, then When i create that cart with over $99- I question if I really need all that haha, so I exit out. If anyone wants to do a group order from somewhere let me know. I'm probably good for at least $60, maybe $80, and I have enough spare tanks to temp hold If needed, but no more then a couple days PLEASE :-)

I'm not into the image, but into the hobby...

Hah maybe someday. I'll have to hit you up on that. I live in the area of the Quincy place. Just bought my tank at Petsuppliesplus, so need to do all the planting / cycling / etc. fun before I hit them back up to look at fish again.

I just went to Tropic Isle last week and that is going to be my new spot. Extremely knowledgeable staff.

Talked to them about re-homing a pair of mating green terrors I have. I feel bad I'm never able to save their fry before the other fish eat them.

Tropic isle; schmopic aisle - "pet's plus" in Londonderry, nh is my new go-to. I mean if you're gonna head all the way out to Framingham for no other reason, might as well just shoot up 93 north (no toll) to exit 3 and hit this spot up. You won't be disappointed. He does sw and fw and has all the trendy nano stuff plus all the classics. I picked up a schoudenteni puffer there. I picked up a Brichard's syno there. I found blue eyes there. Seriously he doesn't buck around. Framingham and millis are a hike for me from east bean; traffic is always horrendous. With no traffic I can make it to this place in under 35 minutes.
Other than that if you're really trying to go all out join the BAS. We tour central mass aquatics and ken's a few times a year between auctions. They only do wholesale and clubs so the price is nothing compared to retail. CMA sold me 50 wild green neons from peru for $0.50 a piece. You can't beat that.
We meet every 3rd Monday at the New England Aquarium downtown. $20 yearly membership gets you access to our auctions and field trips. Last fall one kid bought 4 bags of discus for less than $12 each. Definitely worth showing up. We have a small auction after each meeting plus beyond knowledgeable speakers, like actual marine biologists and breeders with 50+ years experience.... but yeah pets plus 123 Nashua rd Londonderry, nh

Yeah, so I'm not driving to NH, but I might take a look at the club. Unfortunately the Monday nights are a tough ask for a club IMO :/

I'd love to attend, but will be out of town for the next meeting and will have to see about the following one in August.

BAS field trips are on Saturdays at 10am a few times a year. These are what you don't want to miss. This is where you can buy wholesale just by being a club member. We have a website and a Facebook page if you just wanna pay dues online and come to field trips. Monday night meetings are difficult for my schedule as well but it's good to see certain members that I'd only see there. Im also a board member which is a further level of commitment so it's tough to make it to everything all the time. Prioritize whatever is most important to you and utilize the club. We're very laid back. Come when you want. This low pressure atmosphere has probably contributed to the long life of the club. There's older clubs in Europe but we are the oldest continuously running club in the US. It's a tried and true operation we're running here. Some of our members have decades in the club. We have octaginarians and elementary school kids. Everyone is welcome.
