Anybody tried miracle grow potting soil for dsm? I only need to kick start some plants and then I'll make my way to set up my actual tank eventually.

Yep.

I have several Rubbermaid shoeboxes growing plants. Like this:

A word of advice, if you want to use MGOPS there will be gnat larva in it. They will turn into gnats, which make more larva, and so on and so forth. Some people suggest freezing it, but from what I've heard that doesn't work. Another option is baking it.

Or like me, you could just not care and it's no big deal as long as the top is covered. I've never seen one fly. Once they reach gnat stage all they want to do is reproduce anyway.

I'm using it for to grow HC in Costco's baby spinach containers.

Never knew about the gnats, I was trying to figure out where they hell they were coming from, I had a bunch of them at home for a while and could not figure it out. I haven't seen any recently, so must have all hatched and died in my ceiling lights.
