Help! HC Cuba Dying (DSM Nano)

Hi all, this is my first post here.

I have a 30 liter tank that is currently undergoing DSM. It has been a month and I noticed that a lot of my HC is starting to rot and turn brown. There are some white stringy mold growing in some places. I tried drying the tank, didn't work. I tried flooding then draining it, also didn't work. I live in the tropics so the air humidity is pretty high. I have ADA aquasoil topped with inert black sand as a substrate. My Mini Tropica seems to be growing just fine. I really don't know what to do now. Should I just prematurely flood it?

Also, I'm a beginner at planted tanks. But I've kept corals and saltwater for 5 years. This tank I converted from a nano reef to a nano iwagumi style tank.
