Does Vallisneria grow out of tank or go with the flow?

I am looking for a very long stem type grass plant that instead of sticking out the tank when it grows tall it just follows the flow pattern. Do VALLISNERIA CONTORTIONIST and VALLISNERIA SPIRALIS LEOPARD both do this?

I haven't kept vals in a while, but yes, if that is the style of plant you are after it should grow up to the water surface, and then "fold" over and follow the flow pattern.

The taller Helanthium species could be another option, however they will send out stems that will follow the flow and eventually poke out of the water. producing a flower.

Check out helanthium bolivianum 'angustifolius'

Here was one of my Helnathium's (not sure on exact species)

Yeah, I've not kept a species of Val that emerges. Leopard Val can get 5 feet and it's just a ribbon along the surface.

Nothing good happens fast in an ecosystem.

Ahh perfect thank you yeah I'm looking for something I can put right below my return bulkheads on the rear that will just fold with it and ribbon the surface.
