any big controllable floater with roots?

I really want a floater with a good root system.
But I also want one that I can remove when I don't want it.
Most floaters are too smalls to root out and become a nightmare.
Any suggestions for something big?

I like Salvinia nutans. The roots are not super long - they hang maybe 2" into the water column, but they are substantial enough to make a zone at the surface and provide fry cover. It grows fast so I'm always throwing a bunch away so it doesn't make an impenetrable mat, but I could clear it out entirely in a minute or two. The smallest plantlets it tends to break into are still about quarter sized and easy to see and remove.

Dwarf water lettuce. It will cover the tank but can be picked up by hand and the roots drop down into the tank.

Do you really want rooted floaters? When my frogbit roots reach down to the substrate, it turns into a marshy plant. The leaves rise above the water surface, and enlarge to 3 to 4 times regular size.
