What happens to Java Fern in high tech, 100PAR tank?

Will it die a horrible death, or does it adapt and grow like a weed?

Depends on if its the only plant or not. If your tank is well planted with other plants that can actually make use of that much light and thus a balanced tank, then it will grow just fine. There are lots of high tech - high light tanks growing java fern. If however its the only plant, it will grow too slowly to not be taken over by algae.

Will grow like a weed. Low-light just means it can live in low-light. Any aquatic plant including moss, anubias, java fern will grow faster if given high-light and enough co2 and ferts. Many who use java fern, moss and anubias attach it to wood and it ends up higher up in the water column so it's under more par than many think. In my current tank i have all three close to the top of the water level and it's getting planty of PAR.

Java Fern will grow quite well in a high tech tank. Take a look at my recent post # 393 in my tank journal. The JV is probably getting +130 PAR.

Not a problem at all. Mine was placed at least 180 par and they grew well.

My windelov turned into a massive bush that needed to be thinned greatly. Java fern will do just fine in a high energy tank.
