Green worms in water lettuce

Hey guys, I bought some water lettuce and began noticing holes appearing in all the leaves. I only have Nerite snails so I assumed this was just some odd melting or something. Someone mentioned again they they looked like they were being eaten. I waited till my lights went out, then went over to investigate and found green worms (looks like inch worms) on all the leaves.

Does anyone know a way to kill them without killing the plants or my fish? I'm thinking that I could sink the plants for a few hours to drown the worms. Will that work?

I think a bleach dip is your best solution. I haven't done it before and I don't have water lettuce. The basic instructions are Get bleach with no perfume, dies or other additives. mix 2 tablespoons of bleach in 1 gallon of water. Place the plant in bleach solution and wait for 1 or 2 minuts. Then Remove and rinse with plain water to remove as much of the bleach as possible. Then place it in a bucket of water with dechlorinator for about 10 minutes. Some plants are more sensitive to bleach than others. So you might want to try 1 minute dip first then work up to longer times.
