Substrate options for 90gallon

Trying to decide on what to use for my 90. I have used fluorite red and dark and never had any issues. Now I'm eyeing up the black sand. But after browsing, a lot of people seem to prefer Eco complete. Is there any definitive evidence Eco is actually better? Most of what I read just seemed like a matter of personal preference.

What about laterite? Is fluorite laterite? People always used to use this years ago as a base, but it doesn't seem very popular any more. I even considered getting a substrate heater, but looks like that idea has been debunked as a myth. Still doesn't seem like a bad way to add supplemental even heat to an aquarium. I know I like in floor heat, maybe the fish would too lol.

I would like to have Cory cats in this aquarium, so I need to take that into consideration when selecting a substrate.
