Eco complete? Miracle gro organic choice potting mix?

Hello! I'm pretty new at the whole planted tank thing and I have a few questions!
I am planning on making a low tech planted tank and I'm sort of confused about the substrate, I've done some research about it but couldn't find everything I want to know,
I am thinking of layering my tank like this:
About an inch of MGOCPM and add some laterite clay and root tabs then layer that with Eco complete, about 2 inches of that?
Would that be a good idea (not so sure about the amount I should put) or what could you guys recommend me to do? And also, would the miracle gro have to be changed frequently or does it have a long life span? Thanks

Bump: Btw, my tank is 60gallons! (227L)

You don't need the root tabs or Eco complete, unless you like the look for a cap. Here's a helpful article, especially the first part.
