I wanna be dirty

adding a 55 to my fleet. I am currently "mineralizing" a bag of miracle gro organic. Once that is done I anticipate mixing the soil with some flourite and capping with black diamond blasting sand.

my question;

dirt to flourite ratio?? If anyone has direct experience here I would appreciate knowing your thoughts.

Thank you

Mineralizing MG is probably not a good idea. I only heard of one other person doing it and they were new to dirt as well. I never heard of any of the more experienced dirt hobbyist doing it so I didn't either. When you make your own topsoil is when you minerialize it because of what your adding to it. Drying out MG will more than likely require you to water log it. I unintentionally dried out my MG once and had a disastrous result. The ratio to MG is 1.5 to 2" and cap it with the same depth. The MG should be the compressed depth, not the loose depth. So press the MG down prior to capping it.

good advice- then I will cease the "mineralizing" as your comments make perfect sense.
