Which Substrate?

Newbie here... Ok so this is what I have so far: 5ft tank (79 gal or 300 Litre), 1 x Fluval 304 and 1 x Fluval 404 Canister filters. I am going for a medium planted tank and Im not sure on which substrate to use. I have done only a small bit of research so far, but would appreciate any opinions on which substrate works best. .Thanks

Flourite, or Eco-complete. Reddish brown vs. charcoal black.

Eco-complete...Just open bag and pour in tank, no rinsing needed will not cloud water.

Flourite...A lot of rinsing needed and stills cloud water for a few hours.

Both make great substrates for a planted tank. Which one you use depends how much rinsing you want to do and what color you perfer.

Personally I like Eco-Complete so far. I've used Flourite for years, and while I have always had success with it, I like the color of EC better and the fact that it is in different sizes to settle out into different layers. The only draw back to EC that I've found so far is that it is much lighter than Flourite and some plants with poor root systems can easily come up from EC. Other than that I'm 100% satisfied.
