Dying sand a darker color?

Is there a way to dye pool filter sand a darker color permanently and safely for all that may be concerned?

Thanks folks for any answers.

Wouldn't you like to beside the seaside?

Dyeing sand?

Dyeing, no. Especially not safe for anything living in an aquarium. Just FYI, colored gravels are achieved by coating pebbles with colored epoxies, while the pebbles are tumbling in a rolling drum
.
Please do some deep research on what types and colors of natural sands, crushed fractal clays, or crushed stones/rocks are available. I will look also.

Look into the swimming pool industry.
There are different (natural) colored materials that are added to the final coat of a swimming pool to give it a different color.
One such product line is PebbleTec.

Many of these are natural stones, some so fine they are almost sand.
Some products include shells, which you do not want in a soft water tank.
There are other companies making similar products.

To get a material like this in small amounts you would have to talk to several people in the swimming pool trades. Installers, refinishers, gunite specialists, and suppliers that are willing to deal with non-contractors.

Thanks folks. I was just curious if it could be done, since I have this sand laying around and wouldn't mind it being darker. Thanks for the tips on where to get something else, whatever I decide.
