Brand new hi tech tank substrate question

I am setting up a brand new tank and just deciding on what substrate to go for. I am using co2 and high lighting and am wanting to grow baby tears carpet. I am thinking of using - and then topping it off with river pebbles -

I am assuming the Microbe Lift Bloom and Grow is similar to the eco complete? I would do the whole tank with the Microbe but it is quite expensive. Would this substrate be suitable?

Also unsure as to how much to use?

Since you are in Australia you probably have access to several of the Chinese made substrate materials comparable to ADA Aquasoil. Those are likely to be the best choice you could make. Eco Complete is essentially inert, with almost no plant available nutrients. It is a good quality "sand/gravel". "Microbe Lift Bloom and Go" could be almost anything, so I have no idea if it is comparable to Eco Complete.
