Is Laguna Peat Granules safe for aquariums?

Does anyone know if Laguna Peat Granules are safe for aquarium use. It is sold for pond use but wanted to put some peat granules under my substrate to help with some harder to grow plants.

Also, if it is safe, has anyone used it?

Thx - Mark

From there website it says it contains a anti-fungicide, if it was me I wouldn't use it. If you really need to lower your pH/kH then go to your local lawn store or landscaping store and buy a bag of peat that has no chemicals or fertilizers it.

Two things to remember if the bad doesn't say it has no chemicals or fertilizers in it it does no matter what the store clerk says and that peat will turn your water brownish just like bog wood does just not as dark.

Well....I put some of this product in my tank under the substrate where I have some L. Cuba and L. Araguaia planted and so far no ill effects. Also, their website says that it produces a anti-fungicide and not that it contains it. The Cuba seems to be growing very well and the fish are fine. Just thought I would update.
