Ada

Hi all. New to the site, got refered by a friend to join here.

I have just brought ADA soil for my new tank that i got not to long ago. I have 2 bags needing another 3 or 4 possibly to make it a decent thickness for planting. Its a 6x2x2 tank with a curved front.

My question is has anyone here used ada substrate before? ive read many reviews on all different types of substrates and ada seemed to be the best and had the best all round macro and micro nutrients. ?. If thats correct.

It seems to be some of the best substrate on the market, although not the easiest to find at times.

You'll notice the difference with the growth and health of the plants. Doesn't compare to inert substrate or even something like fluval stratum. Amazonia is far better IME.

Thanks for the replys team. Im going to buy my final bags tomorrow. ?.

I have ada amazonia. Is this okay to use on its own? Ive already chucked two bags in last week. I did abit more digging around on the net and have read i was ment to put something under it called power sand?

But then i read else where that it can be used on its own.. the internet confuses me somedays.

Also im really worried about the whole cloudyness that everyone talks about? I plan to take my time filling the tank and putting a plate upside down so the water is not hitting the soil. Is this a good idea?

But 6 bags may not cut it for a 6x2 tank. I just redid my 125g (72"x18") and I used 9~10 bags to get a decent planting depth.

Don't worry about power sand, it's a space taker. It will be cloudy for the first few days until it settles.

Yes and no. You'll expirience amomia leaching and cloudiness after you add more later. You're better off to just wait until you have enough.
