ADA Aquasoil for 45P

Hi,

I am setting up a ADA 45p and wondered whether I am better going for Normal or Powder Type Aquasoil Amazonia.

Am I ok to go all powder type as this will give me a smaller grain size and I suppose a better aesthetic for this small tank. I was worried that if I mix the two that the powder type will just work its way to the bottom anyway over time?

Thanks,

Dan

Do you have any other tanks? If you have two layers, a marginal amount will find it's way to the top, depending on the thickness of the layers. When I've set up small tanks before, I've used a small amount of regular aquasoil at the bottom to save money, but if you won't use the rest of it you won't save money by buying an extra bag.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I think I will go for regular aqua soil with maybe powder type on top.

Here's my other tank, Juwel Rio 180 with Yeast CO2.

Cheers,

Dan

I've had experience with both types in the past. My preference is powder because they're easier to plant in and look more proportionate in smaller tanks. The only drawback is suppositely they deteriorate faster than normal type because of their smaller size. If you mix both types together, over time the powder will sink to the bottom while the normal stays on top, so you'll get two different layers.

Personally, I'd just go with the powder in a 45p.
