Removing fake river...

When I first set my tank up I used white small grain gravel to give the tank a river look. I want to remove it and just replace with eco complete as is the rest of my tank. Does anyone have advice or experience removing substrate without making a huge mess?

You can try sucking it out with tubing.

siphon it out using - 1" dia tubing.
I do it all the time
