Does Mulm Breakdown Release Significant CO2?

Will adding a base layer of mulm or organic material give a significant boost to co2 levels as it breaks down... or not worth bothering with? Cheers!

no. you will run into more problems than benefit.
the only reason ppl use organic layer is for fertilization purpose. and in my experience inorganic/mineralized is better option

Thanks Dzega.

Are there any ways of generating CO2 from the substrate? Or is CO2 injection / DIY CO2 the only way to go?

again, in my experience, pressurized is the right way to go. you can have a solid basic setup for under 100$.
i have done DIY yeast.. for few months.. its simply too much of a work to keep it nice and stable
