What to mix with flourite?

Hi, I have a 50 Galleon tank and I am converting it to a planted tank. I bought two bags of flourtie. I think I would have to mix it with something else to fill in the tank.
Can I mix it with the construction sand?

what level of lighting do you want i use pool filter sand in my low light tanks 1" fluorite 2" pool filter sand.

also do not use construction sand its to fine and you will end up with anoxic pockets on the substrate.

I am using a shoplight with 2x32 W lights in 50 G tank. Can I use construction gravel. And where can I poolfilter gravel.

Do I have to maintain the seperation between flourite and other gravel or can I mix them both.

Thanks,
Vinay.

I have black Flourite and black SMS mixed in my tank. I think it looks and works well. Maybe you can shop around for some SMS or Turface Pro League. I'm not sure what colors are available that would match Your Flourite, but it's cheap.

SMS is out of production now .. and the nearest place I can get turface, sells it only in red colour .. ..
I cannot afford more flourite bags, as far as what I read from the forums, 50-50 mixture of flourite with any standard gravel gives as good results ..

I am looking for some cheaper gravel which I can mix wiith flourite ..

DON'T use construction sand. Play sand of pool filter sand is fine though. Check out my journal. I got play sand in my tank.

Yes. I've mixed flourite with sand and gravel. Works great!

I've mixed play sand and flourite. works well and looks ok too. you can get 50 lb bags of play sand at home depot in the garden dept for a few bucks.

I know enough to know that I don't know anything
