SMS Q's again ...

i know i know ..same question over and over again ...but ok long story short ...i was thinking to take a road trip 4 hours there and back to get some SMS ..before i go ..whats would sms do in the plant tank? with sms do i still need to put some plant food or root tab or not ? and do i have to raise the sms good before put in the tank or put sms 1st no raise then fill the tank up

Yes, you will need to add ferts of some kind.

Yes, you will need to rinse it thourghly and then you will need to rinse it again!

and then when you thought it was clean rinse it 2-3 more times lol its really dirty. what i do is dump it in a tank and do several wcs. after a couple weeks it settles all down. just remember its light is weight so there might be a little learning curve when planting.

since you already got some in your tank ,tell me the how you planting then i am here and willing to learn...i'll rinse and rinse and rinse real good then put some eco-complete on top of it then fill the tank up ..this way it might not be clouding that much ..

It does take a lot of rinsing but you can do it without your tank clouding up so much. I took a 5 gallon bucket and drilled hundreds of holes in the bottom of the bucket (smaller diameter than SMS). Then filled up the bucket with the SMS and ran water over it until it was exiting the bottom of the bucket fairly clean. Took a while!
