should i use Schultz Aquatic Soi?

Hello everyone, i was wondering should i use Schultz Aquatic soil for my first tank? i'm planning on building a 70 gallon plant tank. Thinking about putting 3 inch of Schultz Aquatic soil on the bottom layer and 2 inch small black gravel. I will be running 2x54 watts PC light in the beginning, but plant to switch to 250 watts MH, and i will set up 2(2liter dyi Co2 bottle), and future ugrade later. another quick question is ..anyone know if protein skimmer & phos reactor are useful for freshwater plant tank? trying to use up my leftover saltwater equipment..

thanks everyone

from what everyone told me, schultz aquatic soil has lots of needed minerals that plants need but is very light and will uproot plants unless it's capped with sand or something

I'm using SAS in my 24 gallon without a cap.
That tank is actually my plant nursery.
It is very light weight but once the "dust" settles it is very good for the plants.
If you go with it, just wash it for a long time in a bucket. You sill still get the "dust" but it will eventually go away. I'm using it because the cation exchange rating is very high.
I have 3 honey gouramis and 2 Buenos Aires Tetras in it.

Good luck

I really wanted some Schultz soil but I can't find any at any of my local hardware stores.
